Main Attractions of Darjeeling

Toy Train

Toy train is the most exciting mode of transportation to Darjeeling. This 'marvel of engineering' is the world's highest railway track. The miniature steam train wrestles its way up a vertical track of blind curves in nine hours.

Tiger Hill

The Tiger Hill is situated at an altitude of 2,590 meters and is 13 km from the main town. This place is known for its magnificent view of sunrise over the Kanchenjunga and other great Eastern Himalayan peaks. You can even view the Mount Everest, the world's highest peak from here.

Ghoom town

Ghoom is the jumping off point for an excursion to Tiger Hill. This place generally remains dank with perpetual fog. Peaks of Mount Everest, Makaly, Kanchenjunga, Siniolchu and Chomolhari can be seen as a backdrop from this place. For a truly magnificent view of these peaks, one must arrive before the sunrise.

Observatory Hill:

Locally known as “Makal-Babu-Ko-Thaan”, this is the oldest site in Darjeeling. This place was destroyed by Nepalese in the 19th century. Now, a temple stands there which is shared by the Shivas and Buddhists.

Kurseong:

Picturesque Kurseong is mid-way between Siliguri and Darjeeling. This place is full of natural splendour. Many tourists halt at Kurseong on their way to Siliguri from Darjeeling.

Apart from these places, the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, the Mall, Chowrasta, Darjeeling Rangeet Valley Passenger Ropeway, Lloyd's Botanical Garden, Phalut & Sandakphu, and Mirik are other main attractions of Darjeeling.
